Many organisations are on a ‘cloud’ journey. For some this is a relatively straightforward process, but others – especially in government and regulated industries – face additional challenges in ensuring they meet data protection strategies and broader compliance requirements.
Delivering cloud services on a sovereign digital infrastructure is increasingly the chosen strategy to meet most of these requirements. The task of finding the right partner that provides you with that assurance is therefore critical.
AUCloud – Australia’s sovereign Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) cloud provider – is now also recognised by global virtualisation company VMware as a VMware Sovereign Cloud partner – one of only 10 businesses globally to currently qualify for this status.

Data security is our DNA. We are –
VMware have recently launched a Sovereign Cloud Partner initiative. Through this programme, VMware is partnering with cloud service providers who deliver cloud services on sovereign digital infrastructure to customers in government or regulated industries.
Partners included in this initiative can support customers solving complex IT challenges – especially those that require secure, sovereign data services.
In recognition of the importance of sovereign cloud solutions to government and critical national industry organisations, VMware have developed a Sovereign Cloud framework. The purpose of the framework is to define the key characteristics of a sovereign cloud:
Partners – like AUCloud – who wish to become a VMware Sovereign Cloud Partner apply for assessment of their infrastructure and the design, build and operation of their cloud environments to determine whether they meet the Sovereign Cloud framework, and other requirements.
Sovereign Cloud partners have been assessed to meet the VMware Sovereign Cloud framework, providing assurance that the quality and capability of their sovereign cloud solutions meet rigorous requirements.
In addition to their sovereign cloud capabilities, providers must also demonstrate their expertise in designing, deploying and managing solutions based on VMware core capabilities.
Working with a VMware Sovereign Cloud partner ensures clients can deploy solutions with the confidence that they are using best practice security approaches and can better align with data security strategies like Essential Eight, or legislative compliance such as required by the recent amendments to the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act (Security Legislation Amendment (Critical Infrastructure) Bill 2021).
Partners are committed to enabling digital transformation and are well equipped to provide the advice and insight needed by clients as they evolve their technology strategies and migrate to cloud based services.
AUCloud recognises that there is no one clear path to transitioning to cloud-based services. Our solutions enable you to leverage cloud capability and realise benefits relative to your cloud migration need and/or cloud maturity.
Harnessing the features of best-of-breed technology partners like VMware, AUCloud offers the scalability, automation and cost efficiency typically associated with global cloud offerings.
AUCloud’s solutions require no additional controls to meet your data security requirements and are deployed under the umbrella of our PROTECTED certification. This means security compliance requirements can be met without extra effort or cost.
AUCloud is the first Cloud Service Provider that has received Phase 2 “Authority to Operate”, in accordance with ACSC’s CAAF, by multiple government agencies.
